The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels Review: A Wild Mix of Historical Romance, Pirates, and Fantasy
The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton was such a different read from many of the books I’ve read in the past. I love romance, romantic comedy, historical fiction, and romantasy too. Across the board, I enjoy these romance genres, and this one blended them in an interesting way.
This book almost felt like reading a play that mixed Pirates of the Caribbean and Pride & Prejudice, with the ladies from Emily Gilmore’s Daughters of the American Revolution group, except they all carry guns, their houses float, and they have cannons. I can’t fully put into words what this book was because I felt like I understood it, and nothing at all.
While reading, I felt giddy, laughed, and was hopeful about what was to come, rooting for battles and outcomes. It was entertaining, but I found it hard to fully love. The book was different and unique in my eyes, fun and adventurous, but it wasn’t entirely my cup of tea. It had many elements I enjoyed and hit several romance tropes I like, but it wasn’t my favorite. For that reason, I am rating The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels 5 out of 10 with a 1 for spice. Overall, it was entertaining, but not fully my cup of tea. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve read this book. What did you or didn’t you like about it?
As always, thanks for reading!💜
