Silver Elite Review: The Best Dystopian Romance I’ve Read in Years
***CONTAINS LIGHT SPOILERS***
Holy hellf*ck, what an incredible read! Silver Elite by Dani Francis is easily the best book I’ve read in years. There are many books I love, but I haven’t felt this way about a first read in a long time. Silver Elite reminded me why reading is my favorite thing and why I am a reader. This story brought back the same feeling I had when I first read Divergent and The Hunger Games. I became obsessed.
Throughout my time with this book (a total of 4 days, which could have easily been 1 if I hadn’t had to work), I found myself desperate to read, alive with anticipation, and trying to fit in more pages whenever possible. All my thoughts were consumed with this book, and I know this will continue for a while. Thank gosh, Broken Dove, the next book in the series, released in May, and I was able to get back into this world asap.
Silver Elite draws you in for a million different reasons. There is so much mystery and intrigue surrounding Wren Darlington, her background, the world she lives in, and the situations she finds herself in. Add in telepathy, a sexy as sin CO, covert ops, war, and a myriad of intense dystopian elements, plus love and lust, and this book is so achingly hard to put down. Trust me, I didn’t want to, and even got “yelled” at by my husband to shut the lights off and go to bed the first night I was reading. I felt like I was 12 years old again.

While overcoming grief and being placed in impossible situations where discretion is the objective, to fool everyone, you must also excel and shine. It's an incredible back-and-forth of “am I doing the right thing or not?”
A careless mistake lands Wren in the hands of the enemy, forced to train for a program she would have avoided with every ounce of her being, until the realization that, should she succeed, she can aid her people and act as part of the Uprising, to strike from one of their most internal forces.
With her life at risk every single day, attempting to make friends with people who would want her dead if they truly knew her, and the irresistible urge to get into bed with her enemy, the turmoil Wren goes through is palpable.
Cross Redden is the commanding officer of Silver Block, and he’s also the son of the General who wants all Modified people dead. When his eyes land on Wren, before and after she begins her way through his program, he can't help but be drawn to her, how out of control she makes him feel. Making it increasingly hard for him to keep his hands to himself.
After one night to “get it out of their systems,” they fall into a dangerous loop of intimacy, unlocking new fears, revealing deep secrets, and uncovering one of the best things that has ever happened to either of them. Their connection is fierce. So what does one do when they want to protect their people, honor their loyalties, but never let go of the one they've fallen in love with? Dani Francis is still working on that answer, and I hope to find out soon in Broken Dove.
I cannot truly express how incredible, amazing, and entertaining this book is without screaming from the rooftops, “YOU NEED TO READ SILVER ELITE!” There are so many little moments that you’d expect mean next to nothing or descriptions that just add to the setting, yet they have incredible impacts on the plot. Where one would expect plot holes to exist, there were none in sight. This book was so delicately and expertly crafted, scoured with a fine-tooth comb to make everything link, everything matter, everything intense. The dialogue, the mannerisms of characters, everything comes together in this beautiful bind that can only leave you in awe of the writer’s brilliance. Truly. Dani Francis is brilliant, and I am so grateful to have read her book. She has become an inspiration to me as a writer and an auto-buy author indefinitely.
I could keep writing and talking about this book for a while, but I will end here. Silver Elite is an incredible story that deserves to be read by anyone who loves dystopian stories or wants to experience them for the first time. Honestly, it deserves to be read by anyone who would give it a chance, because I can’t see a world in which you won’t fall in love with this story. I am rating Silver Elite 10 out of 10 stars (realistically, it’s getting an infinite amount from me, but for the sake of my scale…) and a 2 out of 5 for the level of spiciness.
I hope you read Silver Elite, and if you do, leave a comment, DM, text, call, email me, I don’t care, I’ll talk about it with you!
As always, thanks for reading! 💜
