Summer on Butterfly Bay was a great book to close out the summer with. As it progresses through a timeline from the start of the summer to Labor Day weekend, it really was perfect timing when I picked this up.
I purchased this book to bring with me on my honeymoon in Hawaii, and it made a perfect companion and comfort reminder of home (at least the idea of a NJ summer) while we were away.
This multi-pov story takes a dive into the importance of recognizing your roots, handling grief, and being open to change. With the support of family, friends, an adorable dog, and an even sweeter elderly woman, this book reminds you how important it is to have people in your life who care about you and to check in with your loved ones.
Despite being a little put off by Brooker’s personality at first, I was rooting for Ali and Brooker the whole time. This book had several unexpected elements, and it kept me wondering. I enjoyed the buildup of the connections and “coincidences” between the characters and loved watching their relationship and feelings for one another come to fruition. A very wholesome, sentimental, and clean romance.
I am rating Summer on Butterfly Bay 5 out of 10 stars. The messages conveyed through this read, along with the connection to NJ, made my heart smile.
As always, thanks for reading! 💜
