Book Review: Feeling Fiery by Beck Erixson

The most REAL romance I've read in a while, and I finished this one almost a year ago. Feeling Fiery is an incredibly human, real, and relatable story. It isn’t all easy-going and pieces fitting together. Plans don’t always go the way you hope in real life, and it’s okay to readjust, so why not have our fictional characters go through the same thing in their lives? That’s what Beck does with Fiadh and Maverick.
With a relationship down the tubes, trouble securing a proper space to teach her students about the art of making hard cider, and hangover news that the outdoor adventures she booked with her childhood bestie are under no circumstances, refundable, Fiadh is forced to adjust her Type-A personality into Type-B as she learns to go with the flow, get out of her comfort zone, and deal with the difficult yet downright sexy adventure guide.
The awkward moments that would only happen to you when faced with a jaw-droppingly handsome, muscled man while you’re already disappointingly single, fighting for your sanity, and pissed at circumstances out of your control are laugh-out-loud funny. Add in a goose who terrorizes those in its vicinity, lots of banter, and a hilarious inner monologue, and you have an unputdownable read.
I picked up this book for an upcoming event at a local independent bookstore near me, and I was so glad I attended. I had the pleasure of meeting Beck, listening to her read some of her favorite scenes, sharing some of her inspirations, and gaining a deeper understanding of how the book came to be. She was extremely vulnerable at this event, and it made me fall in love with her writing even more. We had a chance to speak a bit when she was signing books, and she truly is a gem of a person, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet her. Her personal anecdotes and humor are unmatched and truly make for a relatable reading experience. The awkward may be cringey at times, but it only makes the story better.
Overall, this book was different, memorable, hilarious, with a ton of characters I fell in love with and some wonderfully spicy scenes to top it all off. I know I will read this book again, have already recommended it to a bunch of friends, and hope you, dear reader, will give it a chance as well. I certainly look forward to reading anything else Beck has written or will write, especially within the Love is Awkward series. I am rating Feeling Fiery 10 out of 10 stars and a 2 out of 5 for spice.
As always, thanks for reading! 💜
